1395171 Cathode-ray tubes MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO Ltd 18 July 1972 [27 July 1971 7 Aug 1971 8 Sept 1971 (2)] 33491/72 Heading H1D [Also in Division H4] A cathode-ray tube is provided with a phosphorus layer composed of two substances, one of which emits visible radiation and has a relatively long after-glow, and the other of which emits ultra-violet radiation and has a relatively short after-glow. The cathode-ray tube is used for reproducing an image from, e.g. a film (see Division H4), ultra-violet radiation passed by the film being picked up by an ultra-violet sensitive photo-detector, the resulting signal being fed back to control the intensity or scanning speed of the electron-beam in the cathode-ray tube, the resulting visible image (without flicker due to the long visible afterglow) being viewed.
