Abstract
1395105 Moulding wood substitutes IDEMITSUI KOSAN CO Ltd 16 Aug 1973 [25 Aug 1972] 38773/73 Heading B5A [Also in Division C3] Wood substitutes are prepared by heating and moulding mixtures of (1) polyethylene resinous material, (2) at least 25% by weight of (1) of an inorganic calcium compound filler material, (3) cork dust, (4) a foaming agent and (5) a crosslinking agent. Preferably the ingredients are kneaded, charged into the closed mould of a compression moulding machine, heated under pressure and the mould instantaneously opened. The resin may be polyethylene, ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer or a blend thereof. The inorganic filler may be calcium sulphite, sulphate, silicate, carbonate or hydroxide. The product may be used as soles for slippers and shoes, shock absorbing material, and in manufacture of furniture.
