Abstract

1395103 Purifying oximes TEXACO DEVELOPMENT CORP 18 July 1973 34152/73 Heading C2C Oximes contaminated by carbonyl and organic chlorine impurities are purified by (a) treating the oximes with a substantially anhydrous base until the impurities are decomposed and (b) separating the treated oxime from the decomposed impurities by molecular distillation. The oxime is preferably a paraffinone oxime derived by photolytic nitrosation of n-paraffins containing 5-30 carbon atoms. The base is preferably an alkali metal carbonate or an alkaline earth metal oxide or carbonate. Prior to or subsequent to treatment with the base, an inert solvent may be added to the oxime to facilitate the removal of solids.
