Abstract
1394850 Targets SAAB-SCANIA AB 20 Dec 1972 [23 Dec 1971] 58924/72 Heading F3X A target 11, Fig. 1, for producing electrical signals indicating the areas in which respective hits by electrically conductive projectiles occur, the target comprising a first unit mounted in a frame 14 and a second unit located inwardly of and in overlapping relationship with, the first unit, each of the units having a number of electrically conductive sheets, two of which are spaced apart by a distance such that, in use, they will be bridged by a projectile. The sheets are provided with mutually insulated elements which form scoring areas. One element on the first unit overlaps one element on the second unit to correspond with one of the scoring areas. The sheets of each unit are connected electrically to produce hit-signals. the conducting sheets are carried by insulating plates penetrable by projectiles. The hit-signals are shown on hitindicating means 20. The first unit I, which comprises sheets 26, 28, Fig. 3, and an insulating plate 27, has the outer range of sensitivity and signals hits within area elements 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5, Fig. 2, the latter extending inwardly from the frame 14 towards a merging area 6. The unit I also includes an outer zone 6<SP>1</SP> of the area 6. The unit II has conducting sheets 44, 46 separated by an insulating plate 47 and has the inner range of sensitivity. The latter has an inner zone 6<SP>11</SP> of the area 6 and hits are signalled from the central elements 7, 8, 9 and 10. The outer zone 6<SP>1</SP> of the area 6 has its conducting sheets 26, 28 overlapping the conducting sheets 44, 46 of the inner zone 6<SP>11</SP> so that both of the units I and II can produce a signal in the merge between the two ranges of sensitivity. Most hits are scored on unit II, which, being releasably :fastened to the unit I, can be readily replaced. A "bullseye" is scored when a projectile passes through a hole 51, Fig. 3, in the sheet 44 and hits a plate 52, the latter being connected electrically to the hit-indicating means 20, Fig. 1.
