Abstract
1394677 Determination of sedimentation rate GELMAN HAWKSLEY Ltd 19 July 1972 [29 July 1971] 35703/71 Heading G1B In a sedimentation rate estimation device, a stand is provided with a manifold 9 having an evacuating port 11 and a plurality of pipette holders 17, each of which is adapted to establish communication between the interior of said manifold and a respective inserted pipette, said stand also being provided with a mounting rack 5 with locating holes 7 for a plurality of specimen holders equal in number to the number of pipette holders, and an operating mechanism being provided which can be set in one position to hold said manifold and its assembled pipettes above said specimen holders, and which can be moved to a second position in which said manifold can be moved by a predetermined amount so that the free end of each pipette is lowered into a respective predetermined one of said specimen holders, said pipette holders and said locating holes being arranged in respective circles about a common central axis. The manifold is supported by tubular piece 13 through which spindle 3 passes. It can be supported on top of spindle 3 by the latch 14 as shown or, by operation of the latch, allowed to slide down the spindle until the ends of the pipettes enter sample containers in the holes 7.
