Abstract
1394665 Adjusting brakes for wear AUTOIPARI KUTATO INTEZET 8 March 1972 [8 March 1971] 10890/72 Heading F2E A brake actuating mechanism including a manually operable slack adjuster comprises a driving ring 19 coaxial with a member 3 rotatable with a brake actuating cam and abutting an adjusting ring 20, the rings 19, 20 being situated within the hub of a brake controlling lever 10. One of the cylindrical surfaces of the driving ring 19 is formed with a reversible thread 25 for co-operation with a reversible thread of the hub of the lever 10 (as shown, Figs. 2, 5, 7, not shown) or of the member (Figs. 3, 4, 6, 8, not shown) and the other of the cylindrical surfaces being splined or grooved 22 for cooperation with complementary formations of the member (as shown, Figs. 2, 5, 7, not shown) or of the hub (Figs. 3, 4, 6, 8, not shown) respectively. The arrangement is such that when adjustment of the brake is required the adjusting ring 20 is urged against the driving ring 19 to cause a relative rotation betweeen the member and the lever 10. As shown the adjusting ring 20 is threadedly connected to the member 3 so that rotation of the ring 20 urges the same against the driving ring 19. Alternatively the adjusting ring may be threadedly connected to the hub of the lever 10 (Figs. 2, 3, not shown). In a modification a manually rotatable ring surrounds the adjusting ring (Figs. 5 to 8, not shown) whereby the adjusting ring is made to urge the driving ring in its adjusting direction.
