Abstract
1394490 Lamp holder ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 3 Oct 1973 [5 Oct 1972] 46099/73 Heading H2E To retain an auxiliary centre-contact bulb 50 in an off-centre position in a car headlight reflector, soft plastics holder 10 is inserted from the rear through hole 28 in reflector, with partcircumferential rib 29 hooked into forward side of aperture, opposing detent 30 latched also into forward side, and two beads 32, 33 transverse to the rib-detent axis engaging the rearward side. Forward of and part of the beads, two lugs 34, 35 are biased inward to grip bulb cap 24, inserted into the assembled holder from the front. Axial slots and recesses 36, 37, 39, 40 in the periphery provide deformability, allowing entry of the bulb cap with diametral pins 23 which finally rest on the rim 25 under the action of an axial spring (Fig. 1, not shown) supplying current to centre contact 22. Behind the rib 29 a slit allows entry of an earthing contact (not shown) to touch cap 24. Rotation of the holder is prevented by projections 44, 46 in the reflector aperture engaging gaps 36, 37, while detent 30 enters recess 45. To prevent rotation of the bulb, grooves may be cut in the rear rim 25 to engage diametral pins 23 of the bulb cap. In the embodiment (Fig. 1, not shown) a central conventional headlight holder carries a sideways-projecting insulating plate supporting an axially acting leaf-spring and earthing contact for a holder according to the invention mounted off centre under the plate.
