Abstract

1394480 Folding sheet material OCE-VAN DER GRINTEN NV 10 April 1973 [10 April 1972] 17223/73 Heading B8R Sheets are folded into zigzag form by a mechanism comprising feed rollers 7, Fig. 3, a curved guide 6, rollers 5, a guide element 4 pivotable between positions 3, 3<SP>1</SP>, and reversible folding rollers 1, 2, the rollers 1, 2 and the position of the element 4 being reversed to produce the folds at the required times under the control of an electronic system actuated by signals from detectors FD0-FD4 spaced along the sheet path at predetermined points and sensing the presence or absence of a sheet, the arrangement being such that the finished package has a predetermined length such as 210 mm., with the two free ends of the sheet at opposite sides, the folded portions comprising one or more full length (210 mm.) folds and two or four shorter intermediate folds of a predetermined minimum length. Fig. 2 illustrates a plurality of packages of 210 mm. length, with or without 20 mm. long fastening strips, formed from sheets of the various lengths illustrated according to two different folding systems at the left and right sides of the drawing.
