Abstract

1393995 Cutting inserts CUTANIT Ltd 17 May 1972 [21 May 1971] 23284/72 Heading B3B A throwaway cutting insert 1 for a cutting tool has the shape of a parallelogram when viewed in plan and has a clamping region which is formed by two curved surfaces 5 each part of a surface of revolution, the surfaces having a curved line of intersection and include an obtuse angle. The surfaces may be part cylindrical or conical and symmetrical relative to the longitudinal plane of the insert. The insert 1 is secured on the tool body 3 by a clamp 4 and is supported on a base member 2 which has seating surfaces which co-operate with these on the insert. The upper side of the insert is provided with a chip breaker groove 6 and a wedge 7 upon which the clamp 4 acts.
