Abstract
1393887 Laminated windscreen heating assembly SMITHS INDUSTRIES Ltd 28 April 1972 [30 April 1971] 12306/71 Heading B5N [Also in Divisions H2 and H5] A vehicle window heater comprises a generally rectangular laminate sheet produced by bonding a layer of aluminium foil (24) to a layer (26) of plastics film, e.g. polyester, both layers being in the form of a long narrow sinuous strip (22), coating the exposed surface of the foil with a cross-linked, acrylic-based, thermosetting adhesive (28) and applying a backing sheet (20) of polythene coated, silicone-release kraft paper to the adhesive-coated side of the foil. Another paper sheet (25) coated with a low-tack adhesive is applied to the surface of the backing sheet supporting the strip. Two portions of the adhesive-coated surface of the foil constitute electric contacts and have steel filings (27) in the adhesive coating.
