Abstract

1392559 MgO paste dispersions BASIC Inc 7 Sept 1972 [7 Sept 1971] 41573/72 Heading C1A MgO paste dispersions are prepared by mixing 65-75% MgO with average particle 0À02-1 Á, 2-5% surface active agent and a mineral oil with a viscosity of 1000-6000 Saybolt Universal seconds at 100‹F to 100%, thereby forming a flowable powder and passing this through a high speed shear mill with a gap setting of 0À01 to 0À025 inch. The surface active agent may be stearic acid, iso-stearic acid, sorbitan monooleate, di-octyl phthalate or lecithin. 2-5% of a wax, a metallic soap, an aminated bentonite or a mixture of these may be added before passing through the mill.
