1392469 Electronic taximeters KIENZLE APPARATE GmbH 6 July 1972 [13 July 1971] 31839/72 Heading G4T An electronic taximeter includes stores ZS11-ZS16 for summing respective types of data, pertaining to the operation of the taxi over a period, manually closable switches TS11-TS16, for transferring the data from a selected store on to line 28, and a key-operated multi-position switch 30 for selectively routeing the data on line 28 to a digital display 37/38, a tape recorder 39, a calculator 41 or a reset device 44. As shown, distance pulses, produced by means 18-22, are fed to a binary reduction device 23, the output of which is representative of fare increments and is determined by the tariff selected at S1-S4. This output and time pulses from an oscillator Z enter a circuit FF, G, D2, D1, which as described in Specification 1,129,344 gives an output equivalent to the faster of the two inputs; this output is fed to ZS16, which totalizes the fare increments over a period, e.g. a shift or a week, and also via normally-closed switch 31, line 28, switch 30 and line 32 to the display 37/38 to indicate the "running fare". If the number of time pulses exceeds the number of distance pulses in any period, the excess number of time pulses appears on line a 2 and is fed to ZS15, which totalizes waiting time. The pulse output from a binary reduction device 24 is representative of actual distance (i.e. is independent of tariff), and is fed to "total distance" store ZS14 and, when AND G2 is open, the "occupied distance" store ZS13. AND G2 is open whenever switch 26 is in its closed, "taxi hired" condition. Each closure of switch 26 also steps the "number of hirings" store ZS12. Store ZS11 totals "extras", each unit charge of which is entered by closing switch 27. During each hiring, the fare is transferred over line 45 and recorded at 39. Also all data being recorded at 39 is displayed at 37/38 via line 40. When switch 30 directs data from the stores ZS11-ZS16 to the calculator 41, subtotals are derived and recorded via line 42 and displayed via line 40. When switch 30 connects the stores ZS11-ZS16 to the reset device 44, the totals held by the stores are recorded via line 43 and displayed via line 40, and the stores are reset to zero.
