1392126 Mono- and dis-azo dyes TOMS RIVER CHEMICAL CORP 21 July 1972 [2 Aug 1971] 34275/72 Heading C4P New mono- and dis-azo dyes of formula wherein D 1 is a group of formula wherein B 1 and B 2 are H, Cl, Br, C 1-5 alkyl or C 1-5 alkoxy or a group of formula n is 0 or 1, A and A 1 are H, Cl, Br, C 1-5 alkyl, C 1-5 alkoxy, C 1-6 alkanoylamino, alkoxycarbonylamino or aroylamino, R is a C 1-6 alkyl group which may be substituted by Cl, Br, CN, C 1-4 alkoxy or phenyl, R 1 is a C 2-6 alkylene group, R 2 is a C 2-4 alkylene group which may be CH 3 - or C 2 H 5 -substituted on not more than two carbon atoms, D is a phenyl, naphthyl or 1- or 2-sulphonamido-naphthyl group free from acidic water-solubilizing groups or a heterocyclic residue when n=0 and M is H, alkali metal or ammonium are prepared by azo coupling or by reacting the dyes containing -R 1 -OH groups with an alkanesultone. They are used to colour synthetic polyamide fibres in red to violet shades.
