Abstract

1391970 Microwave filters; transit time tubes SIEMENS AG 27 June 1972 [28 June 1971] 30005/72 Headings H1D and H1W A main transmission line such as a waveguide I has coupled thereto by a slotted structure 3 on auxiliary waveguide II which contains lossy material, such as a damping layer on a ceramic rod 2, and which is turned to an undesired frequency component in the signal carried by the guide I and which it is desired to attenuate. The transmission line can alternatively be a coaxial line; Figs. 5 to 8 (not shown), in which the outer conductor is slotted and an auxiliary line or lines formed on its exterior. The coupling can be through a row of slots which differ in length, Fig. 3 (not shown), or an interdigitated structure, Fig. 7 (not shown). The filter can be applied to a transit time tube as an input or output line, e.g. between an interaction section and a decoupling window.
