Abstract
1391763 Rotationally moulding pipes ROCLA CONCRETE PIPES Ltd 3 April 1973 [5 April 1972] 15910/73 Heading B5A A roller 12 (Fig. 2) supports and rotates on rings 14 a mould 11 while concrete is added to form a pipe 32 until the concrete layer is thick enough to disengage the roller and rings. After the rotating roller 12 has compacted the concrete layer, a scraper 33 removes concrete from the inner periphery of the pipe 32 until the roller and rings re-engage. Scraper action and roller rotation are stopped, and the mould 11 and pipe 32 removed. The roller 12 is supported by a fixed and a hinged gate 18, 21, and is rotated by a belt drive 28. The scraper 33 comprises a square-section tube 34 (Fig. 5) supporting tynes 30 and shield 59. The scraper is carried toward and away from the pipe by trolleys 35, 36 (Fig. 2) engaging rails 37, 38 (see Division B7) (or by linkages, not shown), and when inoperative, is supported by trolley 36 only and a cantilever 61 applied by a downwardly acting screw (66) and latch (68) (see Figs. 8-10, not reproduced). Scraping pressure is increased by manual pressure on handles 58 (Fig. 2), or by cylinders, levers or gears.
