Abstract

1391703 Heating and cooling buildings DENCO MILLER Ltd 4 Oct 1972 [14 April 1972] 17239/72 Headings F4V and F4H A space heating and cooling unit comprises a refrigeration system having a compressor 9, a pipe loop for receiving hot gaseous refrigerant located in a liquid tank 11, a condenser 5, a receiver 6, and expansion valve 7 and an evaporator 3 in the tank 11, a submerged pump 14 for delivering liquid from the tank 11 to a heat exchanger 12, and a fan 15 for passing air from the space in heat exchange contact with the condenser 5 and heat exchanger 12, wherein the compressor 9 and pump 14 are operated alternately to cool the liquid in tank 11 and heat the airflow, and to cool the airflow respectively. The liquid may be a entectic composition or water which turns almost completely to ice when the compressor is operating. The walls of tank 11 are flexible. The refrigerant flow loop in the tank 11 prevents freezing of the water around the pump 14. The operation of the compressor 9 and pump 14 is controlled manually or by a time switch.
