Abstract

1391301 Plant growth medium comprising polyalkylene oxide UNION CARBIDE CORP 5 July 1972 [6 July 1971] 31350/72 Heading C1B [Also in Division C3] A plant growth medium comprises a waterabsorbing polyalkylene oxide having a molecular weight of at least 100,000 which has been crosslinked to a powdery material by reaction with a compound of the formula wherein A denotes N or O, n is 2 or 3, R denotes H, C 1-6 alkyl or C 6-14 aryl, X denotes -C y H 2y -, -C y H 2y (OC y H 2y ) m - or y is an integer of from 2 to 10, n is an integer of from 1 to 50, and when A denotes O, a is 0 and when A denotes N, a is 1, in admixture with soil, sand, peat moss, vermiculite, fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides and/or insecticides.
