Abstract
1390557 Copolyamides BAYER AG 20 April 1972 [23 April 1971] 18273/72 Heading C3A Linear copolyamides of R.V. 1À1 to 4À0 (18/100 ml. cresol at 25‹ C.), have 50 to 99 mol per cent recurring units x is 5 to 10, R 1 is C 3-20 linear or brached alkylene, R 2 is -Ar-Z-Ar-, Ar is phenylene or Ha or C 1-4 alkyl substituted phenylene; and Z is O, S, CH 2 , (CH 2 ) 3 , C(CH 3 ) 2 or 1,1-cyclohexylene. Reference is made to Specification 632,997 and it is stated that the selected combination of monomer units of the present invention wherein R 2 is as defined above gives polymers of outstanding mechanical and thermal properties which are translucent have high gloss and can be obtained without catalysts and can be processed directly from the melt. They are soluble in dimethyl-formamide, -acetamide or sulphoxide and N-methyl pyrrolidone.
