Abstract

1390509 Injection and compression moulding HEALEY MOULDINGS Ltd 16 Oct 1972 [14 July 1971] 32937/71 Heading B5A Thermosetting material P is injected by a device 8 into a primary cavity 5 whence it is forced by a plunger 9 into heated mould cavities 6, the plunger compressing the material in the mould cavities and substantially closing the mould cavities from the primary cavity 5 while the material is cured. A layer of flash may form across the plunger face. Mould cavities for knobs are formed entirely within the bolster 3 through which injection occurs or partly in the plunger 9. Ejection pins 10 may be shaped to form sockets in the knobs. Both bolsters 3, 4 are electrically heated and injection passage 7 is cooled. The moulding machine may be horizontal or vertical.
