Abstract

1390298 Coated products BRUCKNER APPARATEBAU GmbH 5 Feb 1973 [18 Feb 1972] 5515/73 Heading B2E [Also in Division C3] Producing a polymer film on the surface of fibres which are capable of absorbing a polar substance by (1) applying an emulsion of a first polar reactant (A), in a non-polar solvent, and (2) applying a second reaction partner (B), whose presence with (A) will cause a polymer to form. (A) may form the polymer by reaction with (B), or (A) or (B) may self-polymerise in the presence of a catalyst (B) or (A). The reactants may be monomers or oligomers. (A) is preferably emulsified while diluted with water. The fibrous substrate may be worsted tops. In the Example (A) is hexamethyldiamine emulsified in water and perchloroethylene and this is applied to worsted tops. The treated tops are then put into a second both containing as (B) sebacyl acid chloride in perchloroethylene. The reactants may be applied continuously such as by padding, spraying or wetting or discontinuously.
