Abstract

1390143 Coin-operated device VDO ADOLF SCHINDLING AG 16 Aug 1973 [1 Sept 1972] 38807/73 Heading G4V A coin-operated time monitoring device, in particular a parking meter, comprises means 10 for transporting a coin 2 between a coin feeler 5 and a guide element 3, the feeler setting a disc 6 in accordance with the coin diameter, a disc position sensing element 8 connected to a pointer setting mechanism, a lever 20 having at one end a feeler pin 26 located between the feeler 5 and guide element 3 and engaged by a coil to release the other end 23 of the lever from the sensing element and a stop lever 30 one end 32 of which normally, Fig. 2, prevents pivoting of lever 20 and whose other end 33, which is magnetic, lies adjacent the coin transport path so that only when a genuine ferromagnetic coin is used the lever 30 is carried round with the coin, Fig. 1, to release the lever 23. In the embodiment described the entire stop lever 30 consists of a plastics bonded magnet and is located in a recess 29 in a guide plate 13 carrying the guide element 3. The transporting disc 10 is triggered by a lever 11 located behind coin insertion slot 9.
