Abstract
1389815 Positioning moulds CONCRETE INDUSTRIES (MONIER) Ltd 11 June 1973 [13 June 1972] 27684/73 Heading B5A A carriage 28 (Fig. 4), runs on rails 14 over a mould bed, and when immovably locked to the mould bed, is used to position a series of openended moulds 11 by pairs of cylinders 55. For producing prestressed concrete elements, the lowermost of stacked spacers 23 are positioned between the moulds 11 of a series nearest a tensioning bolster, and the mould of this series furthest from the bolster is engaged by pins 56 of the pair of cylinders 55. The cylinders are operated to correctly position end-to-end the mould series and spacers 23, which slide over opposing channel members 12 (Fig. 3). A lowermost spacer 21 (Fig. 4), is then positioned, and the process repeated for successive mould series. Wires 20 are run through the moulds 11 (which are positioned), and between the stacked parts of the spacers, and are tensioned at the bolster. Concrete is cast from a hopper running along the rails 14, and when partially set the spacers 21, 23 (Fig. 4), are removed by a pulley and cable 42, 43 (Fig. 3), supported on the carriage 28 and operated by a cylinder 32. When the conrete has set further, the tension on the wires 20 is released, causing the moulds 11 to spring away from the tensioning bolster. The wires are severed between the moulds 11. The carriage 28 is moved along the rails 14 by a chain-driving hand wheel 50, and can be locked relative to the rails 14 by locking pins 66 engaging carriage lugs 64 and the channel members 12. The cylinders 55 are normally retained out of the way by bars 59 engaging lugs 60.
