Abstract

1388862 Coated products S MATSUMOTO and E MATSUMOTO 4 May 1972 [7 May 1971 14 June 1971] 20811/72 Heading B2E [Also in Division B6] An information record card comprises a substrate 1 of non-magnetic material, a magnetic coating 2 formed on one side of the substrate, a coloured protective coating 3 on the magnetic coating and a transparent coating 5 on the coloured protective coating, coatings 3, 5 being so formed that information can be magnetically entered into or read from the magnetic coating. Substrate 1 may be a sheet of synthetic resin, cardboard or any other suitable material, polyvinyl chloride being preferred. Magnetic coating 2 may include particles of iron oxide or a ferrite. Coating 3 may be based on an alkyd resin or melamine resin and include a pigment as colouring material. As shown in Fig. 2 indicia 6 may be provided on the coloured protective coating 3 suitably by use of a photo-setting resin e.g. a water-soluble colloid to which dichromates are added on a casein light sensitive solution or a poylvinyl alcohol light sensitive solution.
