1388823 Resetting of counters ELMEG ELEKTRO-MECHANIK GmbH 19 Jan 1973 [24 Jan 1972] 2980/73 Heading G4D In a resetting arrangement of a drum type counter a resetting slide 7 has a notch 10 which co-operates with the shaft 5 of the transfer pinions to disengage them from the numeral drums 2, the notch 10 having a first portion 13 which during the initial movement of the slide 7 acts to shift the shaft 5, a second portion 14 which maintains the shaft in the disengaged position while the numeral drums are reset, e.g. by heart shaped cams 9 and fingers 8 attached to the slide, and a third portion 15 which allows the shaft 5 to be returned, while the resetting elements 8, 9 hold the drums in the reset positions, the slide being arranged to be restored to its initital position without disturbing the drums or pinions. The slide 7 is U-shaped and embraces the whole counter with an arm 19 at each end, each formed with the notch 10 co-operating with a respective rounded end of the transfer shaft 5 (Fig. 2, not shown). Oblique surfaces (16) cause the upper flexible parts 11 of each arm 19 to be pushed aside by the shaft ends when the slide is restored. Or the slide may be arranged to tilt upwards during restoration to achieve the same result. The transfer shaft 5 is urged towards wheels 2 by wire springs 12 moulded into the slide. A stop 18 on the slide prevents the transfer shaft being shaken from the engaging position.
