Abstract

1388163 Photographic printing frame MAX DATWYLER & CO 7 July 1972 [8 July 1971] 32058/72 Heading G2X A photographic printing frame includes a transparent plate 2 for reception of photo-sensitive sheet material, a suction plate 1 which is arranged for assembly with the transparent plate so that the inner surfaces of the two plates face one another and are closely together, the inner face of the suction plate having at least one uninterrupted peripheral sealing strip 3 arranged to co-operate with a corresponding strip (15) on the inner surface of the transparent plate in order to engage photo-sensitive sheet material between them and to seal spaces bounded by said strips between said sheet material and the suction plate on the one hand and said sheet material and the transparent plate on the other hand from atmosphere, and the plate surface bounded by this sealing strip having suction holes 7 for suction pick-up and retention of the photo-sensitive material, and also having in the middle thereof air inlet holes 9 for the separation of the photographic material from the suction plate surface, and the transparent plate having suction passage means 17 for connection to a vacuum source to enable evacuation of the space bounded by the strip of said transparent plate. In use, a photographic sheet (8) is located on plate 1 against a resiliently mounted ledge 13 and air is evacuated through holes 7 in areas 4, 5 and 6 successively. Plate 1 and sheet (8) are contacted with plate (2) and the air evacuated from the space (19) between plate (2) and sheet (8). Air is then let in through inlets 9 so that sheet (8) is released from plate 1 and sucked against plate (2). After printing the sheet is removed by reversing the above procedure.
