Abstract

1387793 Joint seals BROWN BOVERISULZER TURBOMASCHINEN AG 9 April 1973 [10 April 1972] 16889/73 Heading F2B A sealing arrangement, e.g. for sealing a combustion chamber to a charge container in steel scrap melting comprises two rows of metal sealing elements 5 mounted in holders 4 on a first component 1 to be sealed, the elements 5 being operatively pressed against a second component 2 by spring loaded balls 10. Sealing gas, e.g. air, may be introduced through a passage 14 to a cavity 15 above the elements 5, which cavity encloses the loading springs 11. The elements 5, which may be of steel, may form segments of respective circles, the ends of the segments of each circle being offset; end stops 16 are provided to limit compression of the arrangement against the component 2.
