1387391 Soaking pit furnace burners DNEPROPETROVSKY ORDENA TRUDOVOGO KRASNOGO ZNAMENI METALLURGICHESKY INSTITUT and KRIVOROZHSKY METALLURGICHESKY ZAVOD IMENI VI LENINA 9 May 1973 22162/73 Headings F4B and F4T @rber for heating a soaking pit furnace 3 comprises a horizontal air duct 1 wherein a nozzle 4 is pivotally mounted, a lever 6 rigidly fixed to the nozzle at one end and hinged to a rod 7 at the other end, the rod 7 being moved by a drive 8 to pivotally oscillate the nozzle 4 about an axis transverse to the axis along which the nozzle is directed, a position of the nozzle during the oscillation being such that the nozzle is directed along the axis of duct 1, and a fuel supply pipe 5 hermetically hinged to the nozzle for supplying fuel thereto, the axis of the downstream end part of the pipe 5 coinciding with the pivotal axis of the nozzle 4. The rod 7 may be reciprocated by an hydraulic cylinder or by an electric motor. The arrangement is designed to improve the uniformity of heat transfer to ingots in the pit.
