1387120 Antiskid braking systems AISIN SEIKI KK 23 Dec 1971 [30 Dec 1970 (4)] 23484/74 Divided out of 1387119 Addition to 1364476 Heading F2F A digital antiskid brake control system for a vehicle hydraulic brake circuit comprises means for sensing the rotational speed of each of one or more wheels and producing a pulse signal representing that speed or the sum of those speeds, means for counting the numbers of pulses in two time periods, of which the second commences after the first, and subtracting the number of pulses in the second time period from that produced in the first to obtain the difference, means for subtracting a predetermined number from the difference to obtain a final number and means for relieving braking pressure when the final number is positive. The counting of pulses and obtaining of the difference is performed by an addition counter and a subtraction counter and the predetermined number is subtracted by supplying a pulse stream of a predetermined number of pulses, to the subtraction counter each time period, by means of a circuit including a gate circuit, input terminals of which are connected to output terminals of a control decoder. The predetermined number is varied in response to a pressure-responsive switch in the braking circuit, the number being higher for braking pressures above a set value than for those pressures below. A sensing circuit I delivers a pulse output representing the combined speeds of a pair of wheels to a circuit II including counters B1, B2 and connected to an addition/ subtraction circuit III. When the final count in the subtraction circuit is negative and is set into a flip-flop F37 no current flows through the solenoid V1 of the pressure relief circuit VII. When a slow or moderate brake action, insufficient to lock the wheels, is applied the final count is zero or negative and the pressure is not reduced but when a severe brake action is applied, the wheels being locked, the final count becomes positive and a current flows through the solenoid V1 to reduce braking pressure.
