Abstract

1386915 Credit cards &c. ID-KORT AB 25 May 1973 [5 June 1972] 25055/73 Heading B6A An identity card or the like is provided with a radioactive substance and information as to the intensity of the radiation from the substance. The information may be provided in perforations 2 and/or a magnetic strip 3 encased in a laminated card also having a photograph 5 and printed areas 6, 7, 8 thereon. The radioactive substance, provided in area 4, may be Sr<SP>90</SP> having a relatively long half life so that information regarding its initial intensity need not be updated. Alternatively, if a substance having a relatively short half life is used, e.g. Tl<SP>204</SP>, Pm<SP>147</SP>, the intensity information is supplemented by the date when the intensity was checked so that on subsequent checking, the expected intensity can be evaluated and checked against the measured value. The intensity information and date of checking are then updated on the card. The card may be encased in plastics material.
