Abstract

1,090,843. Trading cards. SPOT-O-GOLD CORPORATION. Feb. 11, 1965, No. 6061/65. Heading B6A. A trading card 10 comprises a layer of paperlike material with indicia 30 printed &c. thereon, and a readily-erasable layer of metal bonded directly to the paper-like layer to obscure the indicia 30. The layer 28 may be bronze powder which has been sprayed on the paper-like layer, or it may be gold leaf foil applied in a hot-press embossing machine. The metal layer can be easily removed to reveal the indicia 30 thereunder, but, by so doing, the area beneath the layer is smudged and thus denotes tampering. The reverse side of the card 10 opposite the indicia 30 has a large spot 32, Fig. 2 (not shown), imprinted with dark coloured ink, so that the indicia 30 cannot be seen. The card 10 is used to stimulate trade with stores, cinemas, &c., and has demarked zones 22 around the edges representing money values, and a printed rectangular area 26 denoting the frequency of trading: either or both the zones 22 and rectangular area 26 may be punched after each trading transaction.
