Abstract

1386897 Gyroscopes BRITISH AIRCRAFT CORP Ltd 15 Oct 1973 [26 Oct 1972] 49531/72 Heading G1C A gyroscope rotor 1 which is provided with a series of depressions towards which a gas jet 5 is directed for driving the rotor is provided with a flexible covering 4 which is deflectable into the depressions by the jet but which otherwise provides a smooth outer surface for the rotor. The flexible covering may comprise a rubber sleeve or a resilient metal foil having a plurality of flaps for inward deflection into the depressions, the metal foil being surrounded by one or more retaining bands.
