Abstract
1386747 Substituted tricyclo-[5,4,0,0<SP>3,9</SP>]undecan-2-ol and 2-ene F HOFFMANN-LA ROCHE & CO AG 24 July 1973 [25 July 1972] 35135/73 Heading C2C [Also in Division C5] 1,2,3,6 - Tetramethyl tricyclo - [5,4,0,0<SP>3,9</SP>]- undecan-2-ol is prepared by (1) reacting 2,6- dimethylphenol with NaH and then with 3- methylpenta-2,4-dienyl-1-bromide to give 6-(-3- methylpenta - 2,4 - dienyl) - 2,6 - dimethylcyclohexa - 2,4 - dien - 1 - one; (2) reacting the latter with more 2,6-dimethylphenol to give 1,3,6 - trimethyl tricyclo - [5,4,0,0<SP>3,9</SP>]undecan- 5,10-dien-2-one; and (3) hydrogenating the latter using Pd/C and reacting the hydrogenation product with MeLi.
