Abstract

1386638 Pressure sensitive adhesive coatings BEIERSDORF AG 21 July 1972 [23 July 1971] 34279/72 Heading B2E [Also in Division C3] Substrates are coated with a pressure sensitive adhesive comprising a copolymer of (a) 35-65% by weight of one or more dialkyl esters of maleic acid or fumaric acid with one or more primary straight or branchedchain aliphatic alcohols with 4-12 carbon atoms, (b) 20-40% by weight of one or more alkyl esters of acrylic or methacrylic acid with one or more primary straight or branched-chain aliphatic alcohols with 4-12 carbon atoms, (c) 10-20% by weight one or more vinyl esters of saturated straight or branched-chain fatty acids having 2-15 carbon atoms in the acid moiety, and (d) 3-12% by weight acrylonitrile, the weight percentages being taken on the total weight of the monomers. In the Examples fumaric acid di-2-ethylhexyl ester, acrylic acid n-butyl ester, vinyl acetate, acrylonitrile, plutralic acid dialkyl ester, fumaric acid didodecyl ester, acrylic acid 2- ethyl hexyl ester and acrylic acid n-dodecyl ester are used as copolymers. After the optional addition of palmitic acid the adhesives are coated on rear side lacquered cotton cloth, label paper, ethylene glycol terephthalate foil, rear side lacquered crepe paper, polyethylene fleece, cellulose hydrate foil and plasticized PVC foil, for example by transfer from siliconised paper.
