Abstract

1386473 Laboratory furnaces K HINTENBERGER 24 April 1972 [27 April 1971] 18947/72 Heading F4B An electrically heated vacuum oven for firing ceramic material, e.g. false teeth, comprises a vertical chamber, open at the bottom to receive a carrier 5 for the object to be fired and a pneumatic cylinder 2 for moving the carrier vertically into the chamber, a plate 6 then making a vacuum-tight closure, there also being provided a mechanically operated lifting finger 6 alongside the cylinder 2 operated through connecting rod 21 by a crank 12. The finger 6 bears against the closing plate and serves to raise the carrier gently into the oven where it is retained by the pneumatic cylinder. The finger 6 is then lowered by continued rotation of crank 12 which, after a further predetermined period, operates switch 9 to cause cylinder 2 to rapidly withdraw the carrier from the oven. The object on the carrier then cools until the end of the cycle when switch 13 is operated. Another object is then placed on the carrier and raised slowly into the oven.
