Abstract

1385978 Heavy water SIEMENS AG 16 May 1972 [17 May 1971] 23030/72 Heading ClA [Also in Divisions C7 G6 and H1] In a method for removing tritium from tritium-containing heavy water, i.e. a mixture of D 2 O and DTO, the mixture is fed to an electrolysis device E having a D.C. supply G, where oxygen is liberated. The mixture of D 2 and DT is fed to a separating device T where the DT is collected and the D 2 passes to a fuel cell B which uses the D 2 as fuel and generates D 2 O. The output of cell B may supply the device E. The D 2 O, O and DT are returned to the device E.
