Abstract

1385616 Rotary furnace supports FIVES LILLE-CAIL 2 May 1973 [4 May 1972 16 Aug 1972] 20789/73 Heading F4B A support for a rotary furnace bearing ring 10 comprises rollers 14 on a rocker resting on a frame 18 through a ball joint 20 the centre of which is situated in the plane of symmetry of the rocker perpendicular to the axes of the rollers and equidistant therefrom. The rocker comprises bearing plates 22 located in the sides of a casing 24 by sleeves 37 and the ball-joint comprises concentric rings 26 and 28, the outer ring 26 being attached to an intermediate support 30 on the frame 18 and the inner ring 28 being attached to a short shaft 34 within lugs 36 of the casing. The ring 26 is of less width than the ring 28 enabling limited oscillation about the centre of the joint. In a modification (Fig. 3) the shaft (34<SP>1</SP>) extends through the casing walls and the bearing plates. Another modification (Fig. 4) has the axis of the shaft (34) perpendicular to that of the rollers and another modification (Figs. 5 and 6) has one end of the rocker connected to a fixed anchoring point (50) by a tie (52) of adjustable length, the tie being attached to the rocker and the anchoring point by ball joints (54 and 56). In a final modification (Figs. 7 and 8) the rollers may have side flanges (58<SP>1</SP>) on one side engaging the track rings.
