1385570 Disulphides BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK AG 22 June 1972 [24 June 1971] 29237/72 Heading C2C The invention comprises disulphides of the formula where R denotes phenyl, naphthyl, benzofuranyl, dihydrobenzofuranyl, benzothiophenyl or dihydrobenzothiophenyl any of which may be substituted by one or more lower allyl, lower alkoxy, cycloalkyl or cycloalkenyl of not more than 6 carbon atoms, lower alkenyl, lower alkynoxy, lower alkylthio, di-lower alkylamino, halogen, nitroacetylamino or lower alkenoxy radicals or by -N=CH-N(CH 3 ) 2 or by thioacetal, dithioacetal or acetal groups, "lower" denoting containing not more than 4 carbon atoms. The compounds may be made by the following methods (a) reaction of a compound of the formula where R is defined as above and A denotes hydrogen or an equivalent of a metal atom with a disulphuric dihalide in the presence or absence of a solvent. The reaction is carried out at 0‹ to 200‹ C.; (b) reaction of a chloroformic acid ester of formula where R is as above, with a disulphide of formula at a temperature of 0‹ to 200‹ C.; (c) reaction of a carbamyl fluoride of formula with a phenolic component ROH. The compounds of the invention are used as pesticides.
