Abstract

1385569 Mixing in conduits H CLASEN 21 June 1972 29103/72 Heading B1C A static homogenizer comprises a tube 1 containing a plurality of helical members 7, 8 each having at least one plane extension 4 having a slit 9 so that in regions 6 where adjacent members interengage there are four flow channels. The members may have plane extensions at both ends and interengage over the length thereof. As shown adjacent members may of opposite hand, be twisted through 180‹ and engage at right-angles. The upstream end of each member may have a knife edge (10, Figs. 3a, 3b not shown) and the engaging portions of adjacent members may be held by a ring (11) having tapered edges (12) and forcing a flow construction. The device may discharge tangentially into an inverted funnelshaped outlet tube, see Figs. 1 and 2, not shown.
