Abstract

1385489 Heteropoly compounds AGENCE NATIONALE DE VALORISATION DE LA RECHERCHE 17 Dec 1971 [18 Dec 1970] 58693/71 Heading ClA [Also in Division A5] Complex inorganic heteropolyanion compounds are prepared by a condensation reaction consequent upon contacting at least one salt of a tungsten, molybdenum or vanadium acid with another acid capable of displacing the W, Mo or V acid from the salt, the reaction being carried out in the presence of an ion of hydrogen, boron, silicon, germanium, phosphorus or arsenic, whereby a plurality of W, Mo or V anions is grouped by condensation about a central H, B, Si, Ge, P or As atom. Among the exemplary preparations are the following:- Sodium borotungstate is prepared by refluxing a solution of sodium tungstate and borax with sulphuric acid and neutralizing the filtered liquid with sodium hydroxide. Sodium silicotungstate is prepared by refluxing a mixture of sodium tungstate solution, glycerol solution of sodium silicate, and sulphuric acid and neutralizing the filtered liquid with sodium hydroxide. Potassium silico-11 tungstate is prepared similarly. Ammonium phosphotungstate is prepared by boiling sodium tungstate solution with 85% H 3 PO 4 , adding NH 4 Cl and separating the crystalline product. Silicochromotungstic acid is prepared by the action of chromium nitrate on potassium silicotungstate in acetic acid-lithium acetate buffer solution followed by precipitation of potassium ions as perchlorate.
