Abstract

1385289 Dish racks K-TEL INTERNATIONAL Inc 20 Aug 1973 [21 Aug 1972] 39296/73 Heading A4A A combined dish rack and tray has panels 12, 13, 14, 15 moulded integrally in plastics material and flexibly hinged at 16, 17, 18 to enable their being folded for storage. Feet (100, 101, 102, 103, 104) Figs 9 and 10 (not shown) are arranged to tilt the tray when it rests on a level surface. Side walls 20, 22 are integral with the panels 12, 15, they may be scalloped and are inclined downwards and inwards towards the front. Rear walls 24, 26, 28, 30 are integral with their associated bottom panels and are offset from one another to overlap when the tray is folded. Dish supports 46, 48 with recesses 49, 50 are moulded with their adjacent bottom panels and have supports (52), Fig. 6, (not shown). Finger element cup supports 30, 32, 34, 36 are provided adjacent to the walls with stiffening members (45) which also support articles clear of the bottom panels to promote drainage. In a modification the support (145), Fig. 15, (not shown) as formed by indentation in a wall. Ridges 60 raise hollow articles to promote drainage and also increase rigidity of the panels. A silverware holder 68 comprises panels 70, 72, 74, 76 connected by narrow flexible sections and joined by inter-connection between ribs (86) and retainers (87), Figs. 12 and 13, (not shown). The height of the holder allows its enclosure in the folded tray. The walls 80, 81, 82, 83 meet at a common point to sub divide the silverware holder which may have cut-outs in the interior walls, Fig. 11, (not shown). The silverware holder is held by the projections (90, 91), Fig. 6, (not shown) engaging the slots (92, 93), Fig. 5, (not shown). Engagement of a projection 62 with a keyhole slot 64 fastens the folded tray and a rubber band or strap may enclose the exterior. The material may be polypropylene or the panels, &c., may be in polyethylene with polypropylene hinge sections which are formed as grooves (101) Fig. 6, (not shown), to a depth of <SP>2</SP>/3 of the material thickness on the inside of the fold. The silverware holder may be integral with a main panel.
