Abstract
1385259 Mounting reels on shaft PERTEC CORP 20 Oct 1972 [27 Dec 1971] 48499/72 Heading F2U To mount a reel 96 (e.g. for magnetic tape) with a central through bore, a hub comprises a rotatable drive member 16 with a conical outer surface 28 converging from a radial reel locating face 34 and along which is axially movable a ring 18 (e.g. of plastics), expandable (e.g. due to slots (60 ... 54) Fig. 2, not shown) to grip the reel bore, and having protrusions 64 with faces 68 diverging from the face 34 to urge the reel against this face. The drive member 16 may be cast round the knurled end 90 of a shaft 26, and have keyways 38, engaged by keys 58 on the ring 18 encircled by a rubber band 94. To move the ring 18 axially it may have two lugs 80 entering holes 78 in a member 20, movable axially of the shaft by pivoting a plate 12 about pins 104 fixed to the shaft, moving toggle links 110, 112 (Figs. 4 and 5, not shown). The member 20, and with it the ring 18, may be biased away from the flange 31 by springs 98 in hollow studs 40, 42 in the member 16, sliding in bores 88 in the member 20.
