Abstract
1384567 Light guides SOVAL Ltd 11 June 1973 [12 June 1972] 27413/72 Heading G2J In an optical viewing device comprising a fibre optics bundle (1) and a light source (7) mounted to one side of the bundle, a lateral illumination inlet (8) in the bundle is provided by causing contacting portions of some outermost fibres in the bundle to coalesce by simultaneously heating and slightly stretching them. The device may comprise three 4-channel glass fibre optics units 10, the disposition of the bundles in each unit being as indicated at 11, to provide scrambling, or the bundles may be parallel, see Fig. 5 (not shown). A baffle (17), a solid transparent light guide block (18), Fig. 8 (not shown) and a reflective foil (15) Fig. 2 (not shown) may be provided.
