Abstract

1384503 Mounting spot-type disc brake pads SOC ANON FRANCAISE DU FERODO 26 Feb 1973, [10 March 1972] 9318/73 Heading F2E A disc brake comprises a rotatable disc 13, Fig. 1, a fixed support 10 facing it, and a brake shoe arranged at each side of the disc, at least one of the shoes, e.g. 17, being mounted for sliding movement towards and away from the disc in an aperture 16, Fig. 2, formed in support 10, the latter shoe having a lateral tongue 24 protruding from the central zone of each of a first pair of opposed sides parallel to the centre line of the brake shoe passing through the disc axis; complementary recesses 25 are provided in opposed edges of the apertures for receiving the tongues, the free ends of the tongues, however, being spaced from the corresponding edges of the recesses; the tongues in co-operation with the recesses prevent radial displacement of the brake shoe, while the parts of the sides beyond the tongues co-operate with the corresponding edges of the apertures to prevent circumferential displacement of the shoe. Preferably the shoe is urged radially outwards by a spring 22. The support 10 may alternatively be of inverted U-shape, in which case the above construction may be provided at both sides of the disc.
