Abstract
1384491 Polyfluorinated disulphides PECHINEY UGINE KUHLMANN 22 Jan 1973 [7 Feb 1972] 3096/73 Heading C2C Polyfluorinated disulphides of the general formula wherein C n F 2n+1 is a straight or branched perfluoroalkyl chain in which n is an integer of 1-20, and a is an integer of 2-20, are prepared by catalytically decomposing a thiocyanate of general formula C n F 2n+1 -(CH 2 ) a -SCN in the presence of an alkaline agent such as a metal oxide or hydroxide, ammonia, amine or basic salt at 40-150‹ C. The said thiocyanate may be formed by treating a bromide or iodide of general formula C n F 2n+1 (CH 2 ) a Y with where Y is Br or I, M is an ammonium radical or a metal of Group Ia, Ib, IIa, IIb or VIII, Al or Pb and b is the valency of M. Amongst the examples C 8 F 17 C 2 H 4 S-SC 2 H 4 C 8 F 17 and are prepared.
