Abstract

1384341 Magnetograms FILMFABRIK WOLFEN VEB 20 April 1972 18308/72 Heading B2E A filamentary magnetogram carrier comprises a core of a magnetisable powder and a non-magnetic envelope. The magnetisable core may be γ-Fe 2 O 3 , CrO 2 or a ferromagnetic metal powder. The magnetisable core may additionally contain a synthetic plastics material as binding agent. The non-magnetic envelope may include a polymeric material which dries physically or is hardenable by chemical or thermal means, or by means of high energy radiation. The magnetograms may be made by spinning hollow filaments to be filled with a magnetisable powder or by homogenising a magnetisable powder with a binding agent (e.g. a polyvinyl compound, a polyurethane, a polyamide or a polyester), extruding the mixture through a die e.g. a ceramic permanent magnet and envelopping the product in a synthetic plastics material. Such processes may be continuous. If desired the envelope may be applied in monomeric form and subsequently polymerised or crosslinked.
