Abstract

1384097 Pyrroles UPJOHN CO 11 July 1972 [29 July 1971] 32414/72 Heading C2C Novel pyrroles of general formula wherein R is alkyl or haloalkyl of 1-10C atoms, alkenyl or haloalkenyl of 3-8C atoms, C 3-10 alkynyl, C 3-6 cycloalkyl, C 4-6 cycloalkenyl, alkyl or halogen substituted cycloalkyl of 4- 12C atoms, alkyl or halogen substituted cycloalkenyl of 5-12C atoms, cycloalkyl or cycloalkenyl substituted alkyl of 4-12C atoms; and alkoxy substituted alkyl having a total of C 3-9 atoms; and R 1 is hydrogen, C 1-4 alkyl or C 1-4 haloalkyl, may be prepared by (i) reacting an appropriate alcohol with an appropriate 2- carbonyl chloride, or (ii) by hydrogenating in situ an α-oximino alkanoacetate in the presence of methylacetoacetate, N-methylacetoacetamide or a substituted #-diketone of formula wherein R 2 is Me, Et, CF 3 , -OMe or MeNH-. The novel compounds exhibit herbicidal properties.
