Abstract

1383744 Positioning in two co-ordinate axes FERRANTI Ltd 30 May 1972 [1 June 1971] 18325/71. Heading G1M A pantograph linkage as shown employing a 20:1 reduction ratio enables a part 7 to move both parallel to surface 14 and perpendicular to it so that a measuring apparatus comprising fixed diffraction gratings 9a, 9b and movable gratings 10a, 10b produce a fringing effect and give information which is sensed and processed as in Specifications 810478 and 760321.
