Abstract

1383442 Toy boats; toy vehicles LEISURETEC Ltd 22 Feb 1973 [22 Feb 1972] 8072/72 Heading A6S [Also in Division H4] In a system for controlling craft such as toy boats, toy wheeled or toy tracked vehicles, within an area defined by an inductive loop, the transmitter, Fig. 1, (not shown) includes twelve consoles, one for each toy craft, the outputs of which are combined in time-division multiplex by electronic switching and modulate a 75KHz carrier which feeds the loop. Each console provides four different commands in the form of pulses of different durations and each multiplex frame is preceded by a 40ms synchronizing pulse. At a receiver on the craft, the signals are picked up by a ferrite rod aerial 40, Fig. 2, and after detection and limiting, the frame sync pulse is selected at 48 to reset the address counter 50 which is stepped by the incoming signal and connected to provide an output at the allotted channel time slot to enable a gate 52. The signal pulses are supplied to the gate 52 and the leading edge of the resulting output pulse is detected at 60 to reset a register 54. The output pulse also enables gate 56 .to feed 250Hz oscillations from generator 58 to the register 54 for the pulse puration, providing a 3-bit binary coded signal at the outputs a, b, c to effect the required operation. The toy craft shown has twin propellors each driven by an electric motor, the four commands driving the craft forward, in reverse, to the right or the left respectively.
