1383384 Gas cleaning apparatus H ALLIGER 26 April 1972 19334/72 Headings B1R and BIT A gas cleaning apparatus comprises a conduit 110 along which the gas is passed, water spray assembly 116 and a filter 114 comprising a plurality of superposed planar mesh screens 120 to 128 superposed in abutting relationship with adjacent screens at an angle to one another, the screens being composed of plastics material e.g. expoxy resin or covered with such material and extending transversely of the conduit 110 downstream of the spray assembly 116 and staples 138 compressing the screens and assisting the epoxy resin material in bonding the screens together. Preferably each of the screens has a smaller mesh size than the screen immediately upstream of it, and the meshes of the two being displaced relative to each other by 30‹.
