Abstract

1382818 Peristaltic pumps F HOFFMANNLA ROCHE & CO AG 21 Dec 1971 [13 Jan 1971] 59421/71 Heading F1F A peristaltic pump comprises one or more resilient tubes stretched over a plurality of rods mounted via ball bearings on a rotor, the rods being equidistantly and equiangularly spaced from and parallel to the axis of the rotor which is driven by an electric motor via a coupling and braking device controlled by electrical pulses from a programmer actuated in response to the position of cam members mounted on the rotor shaft. The tube(s) are preferably of a silicon elastomer. The pump may be programmed to deliver a series of discrete samples to a delivery receptacle, the pump being thoroughly flushed with cleaning fluid (water) between samples. A second pump may be actuated simultaneously to deliver a quantity of reagent to the delivery receptacle. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1257477 and 1122275.
